Description

Here's another great addition to your MLB collection,
especially for all
Dodgers
fans!
Autographed Blue Dodgers hat
, signed by
legendary
manager Tommy Lasorda,
one of the winning-est
managers of all time,  who at
age 93
, was still going
strong & a
part of the Dodgers organization for the past
71 years
.
Tommy was the oldest living member of MLB's Hall of
Fame -- inducted in 1997 -- until he passed Jan. 7, 2021
at age 93.  That honor passes to Willie Mays, who turns
90 in March 2021.
Lasorda was fortunate to see his beloved
Dodgers win the
World Series in 2020 vs. the Tampa Bay Rays,
their first Series win since Lasorda's 1988 series win.
Tommy began his
long career in baseball in 1945,
took 2 years off to serve in the US Army, returning
as a minor league pitcher.
After coaching for a few teams, Tommy started
out with the Dodgers as a scout  in 1961.  In 1973,
he became the Dodgers' 3rd base coach, & looked
to be the heir-apparent to Dodger mgr. extraordinaire,
Walter Alston.
His 20-years coaching tenure with the Dodgers was
extraordinary -- with a winning percentage of .508
(1,599 game wins),  2 World Series championships
(1981 & 1988),
2x NL Mgr. of the Year (1983 & 1988),
a Gold Medal win for coaching the US' Olympic Baseball
team
in 2000 (Australia).
Lasorda had his #2 retired by the Dodgers.
Lasorda managed 9 National League Rookies of the Year,
including Fernando Valenzuela, Steve Sax, Steve Howe,
Mike Piazza (a fellow Norristown, PA native), Eric Karros
and famed pitcher Hideo Nomo.
Tommy's signature is on the underside hat brim --
black signature over green material.
Hat is New Era Diamond edition,  wool, and size
7 3/8 & in near mint condition (kept in dark storage).
Signature is authenticated by JSA with an LOA #Z88539.
Letter is shown in above photos.
It's one great hat from one great legend.
Rest in peace.
There will never be another quite like you.
