This is a Rawlings Official Major League Baseball
autographed
by Don Larsen and Andy Carrey.
This ball is signed by 2 players from Don Larsen's 1956 World Series perfect game.
It was Game 5 Yankees vs. Dodgers also known as the Subway Series do to the fact that both teams fans took the New York Subway to the
game being cross town rivals.
This is the only perfect game pitched in a World Series since the first World Series in 1903 (115 year history)
Yogi Berra was the Catcher calling the pitches and his famous jump into Don's arms after the game is still one of the most popular picture in
sports.
Andy Carey comes into play when he knocks down a hard hit line drive from Jackie Robinson that was surely a base hit that would have
changed the out come for Don. When Andy Carey knocks down the line drive, Gil McDougald is able to scoop up the ball and throw Jackie
out at first.
"They can never break my record," Larsen once said of his World Series perfect game. "The best they can do is tie it."
Almost 65 years later, baseball is still waiting for someone, anyone, to do just that. In the meantime, the sport and its fans
are still celebrating Larsen's improbable masterpiece
.
Andy Carey died in 2011.
Don Larsen died on, 1-1-2020.
A nice investment in MLB / Sports History.
