Big D had a career year in 1962 when he led the league in wins and strikeouts and capturing the NL Cy Young Award, but missing out on the year’s Triple Crown as he came in fifth behind teammate Sandy Koufax in ERA. Drysdale led the National League in games started for four straight seasons, strikeouts three times and hit batsmen five times. Drysdale’s record of 154 hit batsmen remains a modern NL record. Don Drysdale was a nine-time All-Star selection, five-time NL pennant winner and three-time World Series champion.
