Shimano recognized the need for a small lever drag two speed reel.  Hence the development of the Shimano Talica II reel series.  With the use of small diameter super braid line, anglers have continually moved to smaller and smaller reels, yet insist on chasing larger and larger gamefish.  Necessities for this style of fishing are smooth very powerful drag systems that can handle the abuse of large game fish and the need to be able to cast a small live bait a good distance away from the boat to get a bite.
